Microchipping

Every year millions of household pets go missing. Lucky pets are reunited with their owners or end up in shelters and are eventually adopted to new homes.

Microchipping

Unlucky pets become victims of injury or shelter overcrowding, where there simply aren’t enough cages or resources to support the 6-8 million pets which end up in these facilities every year.

Microchipping your cat or dog is an excellent, reliable way to safeguard your pet from being lost or displaced.

The Microchip

A pet microchip is a barcode for your pet, with each chip containing a unique encoded identification number. Once the chip has been registered in a pet recovery database, the chip can be scanned at most animal hospitals, shelters, and animal control facilities, and your contact information will be passed along.

The chip itself, which is about the size of a rice grain, is injected between the shoulder blades under the skin. The procedure is similar to receiving a routine vaccination. Many pets don’t even react when the microchip is injected. The microchip is considered biocompatible, so your pet will not experience any adverse or allergic reactions. The microchip does not require batteries, is permanent, and will last the life of your pet.

We are pleased to offer pet microchipping services as yet another line of defense in our mission to safeguard your pet’s health and well-being.
