Dr. Smullen is now offering acupuncture and alternative therapies here at Plaistow-Kingston Animal Medical Center. She received her certification in acupuncture and food therapy from the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. She uses many alternative therapies to help her patients, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and food therapy. Acupuncture uses tiny needles to stimulate various points on the body, relieving pain, strengthening muscles, and encouraging the body to heal itself. Food therapy is using food as a form of medicine. Foods are chosen based on your pet’s health needs. These therapies can be used to treat your furry (or even scaly or feathery) family member as a whole by addressing many health issues, including joint pain, nerve problems, gastrointestinal disorders, behavior problems, kidney disease, and other conditions. They can be used in conjunction with conventional medicine or as an alternative when Western treatments are not an option or have not been very successful. Please feel free to call our office for any further questions or to schedule a consult with Dr. Smullen.
